How do I get certified?

You can find a training and/or register on-line for a CycleOps Power Certification session at our website

Can I schedule a private training?

If you are interested in a private session, you should schedule a closed training session or contact us at 800-783-7257.

What are the costs for training?

The per-person fee for the CycleOps Power Certification is $299.99 plus the manual. For a closed session, the fee is $2,000 plus $40 manual/person.

Do I have to buy a manual?

Yes, a manual is required for the certification day.

Does the certification expire?

No.

Do I have to be certified to teach at a CyclOps Power Training Center?

To be listed on our website as a CycleOps Power Training Center all instructors must be certified.

How do I register?

Registration can be done on-line for a CycleOps Power Certification session here.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

Yes.

Do I have to take a test?

In order to receive your CEC's from the approved providers, you must pass the test a certification test.

What makes this certification so valuable?

The CycleOps Power Training Certification is an intensive, content-rich program. We have worked hard to ensure that our program is executed at the highest level and will help you raise the bar in your coaching and instruction. We are the ONLY power meter company that backs their product with education.

Do I get points for any other organizations?

Yes, the CycleOps Power Training Certification counts for .8 CECs from ACE, 6.25 CECs from AFAA, 5 CEUs from USAT and .8 CEU's from USAC.

Who can attend the CycleOps Power Certification?

Anyone who wants to learn to train with power.

Why isn’t this certification offered outdoors?

Currently, we only offer the certification indoors for all types of people looking learn more about training with power. This is done solely because of the logistical difficulties of producing training on the open road, i.e. mechanicals, weather, etc.


Hosting

What requirements must my facility have to host a training?

Can I offer a certification at my facility if I do not have the CycleOps Power bike?

CycleOps Power can offer a certification to those without the CycleOps Power indoor cycle as long as the equipment has power measurement. However, to take full advantage of the value proposition of training with power, it is recommended that you have the CycleOps Power 300 or 400 series indoor cycles or PowerBeam Pro trainer.

Will CycleOps market the training?

Yes, via the CycleOps website, newsletter, Facebook, Twitter, Pedal-on Forum and more.

Attending Training

Do I have to attend the whole training?

In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must attend the entire certification day.

Do I receive a certification on the same day?

Upon completion of the certification day, you will receive a certificate of completion. Individuals that choose to take their online test and pass will then receive proof of certification that highlights CEC’s from our approved providers.

Who will provide the training?

The training will be hosted by one of CycleOps’ Master Training Specialists; a group of experienced individuals that understand how to effectively communicate the theories of power training to a multitude of audiences.

Should I still wear a heart rate monitor?

Yes. To get the most accurate picture of how your body is reacting to the workout, you should wear a heart rate monitor. However, it’s not necessary.

How do I determine power zones?

The Master Training Specialist will provide a thorough education in performance testing. The Power Ramp Test will assist you in creating your accurate power zones.

Should I read the manual in advance?

YES. We will make every effort to get your manual to you prior to the day of the event. As the agenda covers multiple topics, it would be beneficial to spend some time reviewing the materials, so you can hit the ground running on the day of the certification.

What do I have to wear/bring for the day?

Wear comfortable clothes, as the first part of the day is spent in lecture. It is recommended that you bring 2 changes of riding clothes, a towel, food, drink & pen/paper to take notes.
